Beginning Quilting 1



This class with introduce piecing and quilting to beginners. Students will learn tips and tricks to make a baby- or lap-size quilt over the course of two months. Students will learn basic cutting skills, basic color/fabric considerations, learn to sew a ¼” seam, how to press/trim blocks, basic troubleshooting, straight line quilting, binding and labeling.

First class will be dedicated to picking fabrics and thread. No sewing machine required for first class.

Student needs to bring for class 2-8:
1. Fabric selected in first class.
2. Thread (white or light gray) – prefer Aurifil (better because it doesn’t make much lint)
3. Basic sewing tools (i.e., scissors, pins, fabric marker, pincushion, rotary cutter, tape measure, etc.)
4. Sewing machine (with foot pedal and power cord) in good working condition. Knowledge of how to run the machine, including threading it. Bring machine manual.
