Making an Art Quilt

There are as many ways to create art quilts as there are ways to create art. In this class, we’ll explore several techniques with raw-edge appliqué, embroidery, beading, fabric painting, stacking, and more. Come with your much-loved scraps and ideas and we’ll create new designs together.
Art quilts are becoming increasingly popular every day and most quilters and fabric lovers are looking for ways to begin creating their own designs but just need that little extra nudge to help them find the inspiration to get started. This class might help them find their inspiration.
You will learn:
Designing art quilts Raw Edge Applique Fabric Painting Simple Beading & Embroidery Fabric “Stacking”
Using scrap fabric Mounting techniques Framing techniques Fusing Labeling
Supplies:
Sewing machine w/manual, foot pedal, power cord, small appliqué scissors, scrap fabric, batting, beading, embroidery thread with needles (if desired), fabric paints (if desired), markers (if desired), 1 yard canvas, and general sewing supplies, (other ideas: cording, jute, lace, brooches, etc.).
Cost: $60 for 6-hour session
