Begin Your Quiltworx Paper Piecing Journey



The Judy Niemeyer (Quiltworx) quilts are beautiful and complex looking. They are also a little intimidating. But they don’t have to be, once you crack the code. In this class, you’ll learn how to negotiate the Quiltworx patterns and method while making a holiday-themed table runner.


You will learn:

Learn how to choose (future) patterns and fabric, prepare the fabric and papers for foundation paper piecing, sew components using a very efficient assembly line method, and sew curved components with ease.

 

Supplies:

- Sewing machine with open toe and ¼ inch foot
- 6 x 12 (approximately) ruler
- 45 mm rotary cutter with fresh blade
- rotary mat
- typical sewing supplies
- Add-a-Quarter ruler
- ziplock bags
- med size paperclips
- coordinating thread
- pins
- Lunch and beverage.
- Pattern: Charm Elements #11 - Cactus Flower - 12 inch blocks (There are enough papers in the pattern to make (6) 12-inch blocks.)

Fabrics:

A1 - Inner spikes - 8-inch x WOF (red #1)

A2 - Inner background - 9-inch x WOF (dark green)

A3 - Outer background- 9-inch x WOF (light grey)

A4 and A6 - Forward and back most spikes - 15-inch x WOF (red #2) (or 8-inch and 7-inch if you want to use 2 colors)

A5 - Middle ground spikes - 6-inch x WOF (light green)
