French Braid Table Runner

You have to love a quilt that takes its name from a hairstyle. Like the fancy ‘do, French braid quilts and quilt blocks give the illusion of woven strands, and they’re sewn from fabric strips in prints or solids. And while they look intricate, they’re a cinch to piece — even if you’re a beginner.

Equipment

  •          Sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal, manual, thread, needles, bobbins
  •          Basic Sewing Supplies – scissors, pins/clips, rotary cutter/cutting mat, seam ripper, thread clippers
  •          12”x 6” ruler

Good to have: small iron and pressing surface

Supplies

  • 20 Assorted red/gray strips (strips cut to 2.5” x 8.5” – can use jelly roll strips or leftover fabric)
  • 1/3 yard of coordinating fabric (1 – 9.5” square and 10 – 2.5” squares).
  • Batting and backing to fit the top of your table runner
  • ¼ yard fabric for binding cut into 2 ½” strips
  • Coordinating Thread
