Embroidering a Bathtime Hooded Towel

Make an adorable hooded bath towel for your favorite little one and add some extra fun to bathtime!

In this Embroidery Club class, you'll create the playful Bathtime Fun Frog Set from OESD while learning techniques for successfully embroidering on terry cloth.

You'll work with the frog hood designs to create the embroidered eyes and face for your towel, while learning how stabilizers, toppers, placement, and proper embroidery techniques can make a big difference when stitching on thick, textured fabrics.

You'll use both your embroidery machine and sewing machine to take this project from embroidery to a finished hooded towel.

  • White hand towel, fleece, or white cotton fabric for the eyes

Stabilizers

  • Water-soluble topping
  • Polymesh CutAway stabilizer
  • Small amount of sticky-back water-soluble stabilizer

Notions and Tools

  • Temporary spray adhesive
  • OESD Expert Embroidery Tape TearAway
  • Appliqué scissors for terry fabric
  • Optional polyester stuffing for the eyes

Project Note: Two designs are required for the hooded bath towel. The third design is used for the coordinating bath mitt.
Recommended Isacord thread colors
  • 0015 – White
  • 0020 – Black
  • 4174 – Charcoal
  • 5633 – Lime
  • 6051 – Jalapeno
Thread colors may also be changed to coordinate with your towel and make your frog uniquely yours.
Project Note: The hooded bath towel requires two of the designs from the Bathtime Fun Frog Set. The third design is used to create the coordinating frog bath mitt.
