American Jane - Sandy Klop

Sandy Klop of American Jane is a beloved designer known for her playful, nostalgic style that blends vibrant color with vintage charm. Her creative journey began in Holland, Michigan, where the bright Dutch costumes of the Klompen dancers during Tulip Time left a lasting impression. That early love for color and pattern only grew during her time abroad, teaching in Iran and Saudi Arabia, where the rich hues of Middle Eastern tiles and textiles further inspired her artistic eye.

After returning to California, Sandy immersed herself in the quilting world—making sample patterns for local shops, teaching quilt classes, and mastering machine quilting. In 2000, she co-authored the Folk Art Favorites book series before launching American Jane Patterns as her design brand. Her big break into fabric design came in 2003 at Quilt Market, where she was invited to translate her signature style into textiles. She’s been designing joyful, retro-inspired fabric collections ever since, each one brimming with color, whimsy, and Americana spirit.
