Melanie Samra had an undeniable passion for color, design, and creative expression from an early age. Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, she honed her artistic skills. She earned a Fine Arts Degree from Dawson College before graduating from Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU) in Toronto.

Her journey into surface print and textile design began with a commission to illustrate a wallpaper book cover. This led to a full-time role at Sunworthy Wallcoverings, where she mastered pattern repeats, half drops, and tracking—elements that would shape her career. After rising to Design Director, Melanie took a leap of faith. She opened her studio, Samra Design Studio Inc., where she has been designing wallpaper and fabric collections ever since.

Melanie is known for her dynamic textures, fluid artistry, and captivating color palettes. Her designs bring a contemporary yet timeless aesthetic to the world of fabric and home décor. Despite her early adventures in artistic expression, her bedroom today remains, ironically, all white—perhaps the ultimate blank canvas for an ever-creative mind.
